Remembering who lifts you when you fall.
There are moments when strength feels like a distant memory—when your body is tired, your mind is overwhelmed, and your spirit feels worn thin. These are the places we don’t often show the world. The quiet breaking points. The unseen battles. The nights when prayers feel heavy, and words are hard to find.
And yet, it is here—especially here—that Jesus meets us.
Not when we have it all together.
Not when we’re performing well or appearing strong.
But in the raw, unfiltered weakness where we finally realize we cannot stand on our own.
Scripture reminds us in 2 Corinthians 12:9: “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.”
This is not just comfort—it’s a reversal of how we often think. Weakness is not a disqualifier in God’s kingdom; it is an entry point for His power.
When I Can’t, He Can
There is something deeply humbling about reaching the end of yourself. It strips away pride, self-reliance, and the illusion of control. In those moments, Jesus doesn’t stand at a distance waiting for you to recover—He steps in.
He lifts.
He carries.
He sustains.
Like a shepherd who refuses to leave a wounded sheep behind, He draws close with compassion, not condemnation. In Psalm 34 18, we’re told: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
Not “observes.” Not “waits.” He draws near.
The Strength That Isn’t Mine
We often strive to be strong—to hold everything together, to push through, to prove we can handle life. But faith invites a different posture: surrender.
When we finally admit, “I can’t do this,” we make space for God to say, “I never asked you to.”
His strength is not an addition to ours—it replaces what we lack. In Isaiah 40:29, it says: “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.”
This is divine exchange. Our weakness for His strength. Our emptiness for His fullness.
Carried, Not Cast Aside
It’s easy to believe the lie that weakness makes us a burden—that we are too much, too broken, too far gone. But Jesus has never operated that way.
Throughout His ministry, He consistently moved toward the weak—the sick, the grieving, the outcast, the exhausted. He didn’t avoid them; He embraced them.
And He still does.
When you feel like you’re barely holding on, remember: you are not being judged in that moment—you are being held.
Many people know the beloved story Footprints in the Sand. It paints a picture of a person walking along the beach with the Lord, noticing two sets of footprints in the sand—one belonging to them and one to Jesus.
But during the hardest and most painful seasons of life, only one set of footprints appeared.
The person questioned God:
“Lord, why would You leave me during my darkest moments?”
And the Lord replied:
“My child, I never left you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.”
What a powerful reminder for believers.
Sometimes we mistake silence for absence.
We mistake exhaustion for abandonment.
We assume that because we feel weak, God must be distant.
But often, those are the very moments He is carrying us the closest.
A Quiet Truth to Hold Onto
You may not always feel the lifting. Sometimes His help is gentle, almost unnoticeable at first—like strength slowly returning to your bones, or peace settling into your thoughts. But His presence is not dependent on your awareness of it.
He is there.
Steady. Faithful. Unmoving.
Even when you are.
